The Pitch: Food Edition Returns for a Second Year, Giving Four Female Food Entrepreneurs a Chance to Pitch Their Businesses to a Panel of High-Profile Judges

The annual #BlogHerFood conferences bring together top writers, cookbook authors, chefs, food brands and social media influencers and bloggers in an intimate setting. This year’s lineup of keynote speakers and sessions include:

  • A panel of four successful social media influencers and bloggers, including My Cupcake Addition’s Elise Strachan, One Good Thing by Jillee’s Jill Nystul, Grandbaby Cakes’ Jocelyn Delk Adams and Sean Timberlake, creator of the blog Hedonia and food preservation site Punk Domestics, will take the stage at lunch on Friday to talk about ways they have leveraged their blogs to create successful businesses.
  • Lead chef Jake, party planner extraordinaire Jazz along with youngest brother Jocqui of the Smollett family, stars of Smollett Eats on the Food Network, will share their favorite family traditions and recipes, as well as treat conference goers to a cooking demonstration on Friday evening.   • The Pitch: Food Edition returns for a second year after successfully debuting at last year’s conference. Launched in 2015 by SheKnows Media as an online video series and live competition series, The Pitch is a platform designed to elevate, connect and mentor women entrepreneurs. On Saturday morning at #BlogHerFood16, four women who have started businesses ranging from a food app to a food truck, will pitch their businesses in front of a live audience and a panel of high-profile judges. The winner, determined by a combination of the judges’ rankings and audience votes, will receive a prize package that includes marketing, media and mentorship support from SheKnows Media. The Pitch: Food Edition judges include: Aihui Ong, CEO of Love With Food and winner of The Pitch: Food Edition in 2015; Elise Bauer, Founder of Simply Recipes; Lisa Lillien, creator of Hungry Girl and a New York Times best-selling author; and Jennifer Denton, Vice President, Community Programs at SheKnows Media.
  • The closing keynote on Saturday evening will feature Carla Hall, chef, host of The Chew and contestant on Top Chef: Season 8, Hungry Girl’s Lisa Lillien and actor and cookbook author Freddie Prinze Jr., who will explore the many opportunities chefs have to become celebrities, and conversely, how celebrities are gaining credibility and respect in the world of food.

In addition to the keynote sessions listed above, #BlogHerFood16 offers two full days of breakout programming, allowing attendees to dive deeper into the craft and business skills required to make their food blogs successful, how to expand into podcasting and video, best practices for using social media and hands-on demonstrations. Other notable speakers presenting at the conference include: Aarti Sequiera, winner of the sixth season of The Food Network Star; Alexandra Evjen, Pinterest influencer and creator of www.avestyles.com; Ashley Koff, an award-winning nutrition, speaker, author and media expert; Catherine McCord, a best-selling cookbook author and founder of Weelicious; and Stacie Billis, managing editor for Cool Mom Eats.
