SheKnows Media Launches The Pitch Series for Women Entrepreneurs

Original Video Series Offers Entrepreneurs Access to an Unparalleled Audience of Influencers

The Pitch Will Take Place Live at #BlogHer15: Experts Among Us, July 16-18 in NYC
NEW YORK, NY – June 24, 2015 – SheKnows Media, a leading women's media company with 160 million social media fans and followers, today announced the launch of The Pitch, an original video series that offers women entrepreneurs a comprehensive program to help them share their message with the 80 million-plus users1 who visit the company’s sites each month. 

SheKnows Media created The Pitch to help close the gap between the number of businesses owned by women versus men and accelerate the growth of women-owned enterprises across the country, which is increasing at a rate of 1.5 times the national average.2 Despite this growth, women entrepreneurs receive 80 percent less capital compared to their male counterparts.3 

“The Pitch gives women with great ideas the resources, mentorship and audience they need to gain a greater piece of the $14 trillion market women represent4,” said Samantha Skey, SheKnows Media’s Chief Revenue & Marketing Officer. “It also provides Pitch participants valuable exposure, feedback and customer adoption, while allowing the SheKnows Media audience to be part of the crucial feedback loop that entrepreneurs need to hone their product offerings and business models.” 

The Pitch will launch as an ongoing content channel, regularly debuting new videos that feature 30- to 60-second pitches by women entrepreneurs and activists. The Pitch participants, in consultation with the SheKnows Media team, fine-tune their Pitch, which is then professionally produced via the company’s in-house video studio. The Pitches are promoted to SheKnows Media’s vast audience, allowing users to comment, share and show their support using a series of custom emojis. The Pitch is open to women with non-profit and for-profit ideas alike. Ultimately, the goal is to build a pipeline of new businesses and non-profit organizations from within SheKnows Media’s community of aspirational experts. 

“The Pitch is a virtuous cycle for women as it puts diverse entrepreneurs in front of a huge audience. It’s been my support system as I launch my company,” said Tanya Van Court, Chief Executive Officer of Sow, a company dedicated to helping young people pursue their dreams in ways that are both financially responsible and socially responsive.

The Pitch will be spotlighted next month at #BlogHer15: Experts Among Us, the world’s largest celebration of women content creators, social media influencers, entrepreneurs, brand executives and industry luminaries.
